I got the J&J one jab. Does that mean that the shite is out of my system?

This is likely to be the prevailing thought of a lot of people who got the J&J. They feel free.

There has been a variant that uses something other than the spike protein to enter the cell?

The delta variant has changes to the spike protein. And it’s been demonstrated that infected vaccinated people have just as much virus in their body as unvaccinated.

This means they are just as likely to pass the virus on to others. However they are statistically less likely to die from it. There are a lot of problems with the data.

Needless to say there isn’t much reason to get the vaccine now if you haven’t already.

Edit: I say this because treatment for COVID has improved dramatically since the beginning of the pandemic.

The J&J vaccine is basically the same as a flu vaccine.

Not exactly. It's a viral vector - older than mRNA but not really proven either. What I liked about it is they used viral vector for things other than COVID (like Ebola vaccines). They have studied viral vector vaccines for other applications. (Of course, they're studying mRNA for a cancer vaccine, but the tech is much newer.)

Your seasonal flu shot is most commonly an inactivated virus vaccine, although if you've had the nasal spray flu vaccine, that's live attenuated.

It has one change that I recall. A proline to arginine in the furin binding site. It’s still a highly conserved sequence (I mean only the glycoproteins S sequence). The mRNA design was purposeful, although I would argue that adding one more site among the sites that are highly conserved might have been the best strategy. Given the rates of hospitalization, it’s hard to argue that the mRNA vaccines aren’t having an effect.

What should have been done was, "at risk" patients should have gotten vaccinated and quarantined for their own safety. Healthy individuals should have been allowed to stay in a productive "normal" state throughout this pandemic. That would have allowed the virus to run its course through the population and burned itself out. Elderly and immune compromised people would have been given the experimental therapeutics and quarantined until everything had blown over.

Instead, we did the worst possible thing and prolonged the duration of the virus, thus allowing it to mutate and infect and injure more people than it should have.

This^^^^ has been the belief of some immunologists and vaccinologists, these same researchers also believe Fauci is FOS!

Yeah, and that is stretching it.
