I used to consider myself as a fairly well adjusted, level headed individual until these last two election cycles. I thought my service in the Corps, along with time in the LSP and ATF molded me that way.

However today, after watching what has transpired the last eight years, along with the filth and garbage the MSM spews out nightly I can feel a strong move to the far right. I'm not sure if this is good or bad. My wife has noticed that my attitude about people, certain organizations, and politicians has turned negative...bigly.

In my opinion, Trump being elected was an absolute necessity in order to save this great country. I have come to hate and despise those that wish to change it or attempt to bring her down.

Today, even though I'm 64, I would still do whatever it would take to preserve and protect this great country!! OORAH!

I used to be a liberal coming out of college. I started working in jobs that served the poor with all manner of freebies and realized we weren't helping them, we were actually enabling their dysfunctional behavior and removing the just consequences. After a couple of years I realized the the Left's notion of handouts was based solely on immature/naive beliefs about what help really was. The Dem politicians realize it's all bunk, but know that it is a way to produce a dependent, loyal voting class.

I'm a moderate conservative. I don't let others idiocy affect how I stand on certain issues. I still lean liberal regarding a few social issues, but not near as far as the SJWs are on the few issues that I actually do lean left on. That doesn't mean that I go full out right wing extremist because of how they act. I just call bullshite when I see it.

I'm only 42 but it definitely has changed even though I was always right leaning. Some of those leanings have gone further right.

You're not alone on that. I've seen quite a few people change their attitudes after actually working with people.

"well adjusted and level-headed" aptly describes the folk who stormed up Normandy Beach into a veritable sure demise, TM. From Kruschev's "we'll take you without firing a shot" to the Founder's caution re "the Tree of Liberty", you are right about the last eight years. The (misguided, imo) idealistic moral appeal of Egalitarian Marxist philosophy will always be a threat to Individual Freedom. That Constitution is as tenuous as our biological hold on life.

Fascinating time. Monumental challenge. Evolutionary growing pains.

What exactly does "right wing extremist" mean?

Who are they in active political life?

Not really.

I'm center left. The Democrats used to be that. Now they're off the charts cray cray. Kind of leaves me without a political home.

You didn't move toward the right. The media moved the measuring stick.

Opinion? No. But, feelings - yes. Trump is the president-elect and I genuinely hope he does well.

If you're talking about the long-game, honestly, my political leanings and ideals probably haven't changed much.

It's very fulfilling place to be. Welcome to my world. I've voted in every presidential election since 1968, this one has been the most exciting.

Reagan's, gave hints of what we have seen in this past one. Trump's, exposed things I never thought I would live to see exposed on national tv. MAGA

I lean left on certain social issues but I'm mostly right of center. The left has completely lost it's mind. The country as we know it's survival is at stake. We can't afford to lose this. That's why this election was so important. The most important of my lifetime. If for no other reason than the supreme Court Hilary couldn't be allowed to win it. I believe there'll eventually be bloodshed.

My opinions haven't changed. My commitment to the tenets of classical liberalism will never change, but I feel, like others have said, that the measuring stick has been moved. Now I am so far right of some my friends (That I considered peers) that I might as well be on another planet.

Feelings?

I'm a little more frightened of the well-meaning people of this nation than I was.

Classic liberalism was a noble ideal there is little or none represented in the Democratic party of today. This is why I can't understand why decent people would have anything to do with it.
