This tax, it seems everyone is focused on cars. What about the distance you travel on planes, trains, subways??? These could all be collected at the business where you purchase the ticket, simply added to the value of the ticket.

Cars, many countries have inspections, just add an odometer reading to the inspection and the info is sent to the govt. Odometer tampering? Just have the fed govt put in a mandate on cars to manufacture cars with them tamperproof.

Or, tires are manufactured for X miles, simply add in the mileage tax on tires when they are purchased, that way the govt gets the money up front. And once again, the onus of the collection of the tax is on private companies, and they can say they are taxing those pesky corporations, not you, although we all know you pay for it when you buy the tire.

Dont think they can do it. They tax you on the money you earn. They tax you on the income of what you have left after the first tax. They then tax your estate for the third time when you die. They also tax you on what you earn, and tax you when you buy something with what you have left. Double and triple taxation is nothing new.

Thats my point Kraut. Its why so many countries use value added tax, they get the companies to collect the information and send in the tax. They leave sales tax to the local fellas, too burdensome and labor intensive.

Yours is a good point, SS, medicare, gas tax, tariffs, duties, etc, make the businesses collect them and send the feds the money. It also insulates them from the person paying the tax, its "those corporations", "your company" not the feds that are taking your money. And they are using corporate labor to do it (which also ends up in your cost to purchase).

I reviewed mayor butt stuffers proposal and it would cost me 6k extra a year just to get to work. It would cost my wife almost 3k. It would cost my family almost 10k just to have the privledge of going to work to pay them enormous amounts of money in income taxes as well. frick these people. They are trying to keep people at home locked up and isolated.

Hell ya they do. It’s forced labor at no cost to the government. Employers are unpaid collection agencies.

If I could change one element of the tax codes—it would be to make everyone write a check for their taxes every month. You’d see a revolt inside of six months, though.

So I have a Yukon that I wrote a personal check for 55,000 at the time. It's mine. I use it for work and the companies I have contracts with give mileage 56 cents a mile as part of my contract. Now the government wants me to pay them part of the money I get for using my personal truck. Remember we already pay taxes in other ways for roads and infrastructure.

And they use the corporations (Twitter, google, Facebook)to suppress freedom of speech as well. They don’t want to look dirty so they contract their gestapo tactics to willing Marxist entities.

Just roll over and pay. No one is going to do anything but complain anyway.

Almost no one pays the Estate tax; the limit is $11 million and people get creative with valuations to avoid it. Good try at a gotcha though.

How would that be a gotcha? You are taxed almost daily from birth to death. In many cases you or your purchase have been taxed many times over for a single transaction.

Trump doubled it with the new tax bill, it will go back to 5.49 million with Biden.

16 billion was owed in estate tax for 2020. That may seem like a gotcha to you, but thats the family farm sold off to pay the IRS for many families simply because someone died unexpectedly without a trust set up.

It wasn't a gotcha; it was a fact.

Per the Tax Policy Center, About 4,100 estate tax returns will be filed for people who die in 2020, of which only about 1,900 will be taxable—less than 0.1 percent of the 2.8 million people expected to die in that year.

My claim that almost noone pays the Estate tax holds true.

Maybe you will be correct next time, m'dude.

Sure but this board loves to trot out the boogey man of the Estate tax when virtually no-one pays the Estate tax as I have shown above.

Citation needed. On the sales tax front, if you are reselling an item, that transaction is not taxed until the end consumer purchases the good.
