He also removed $1 million for roads in Winn Parish

These include $50,000 for Bossier Parish recreational improvements, $26,000 for signs in the town of Greenwood and $75,000 for street improvements in the City of Plain Dealing.
Absolutely zero of these belong in the state budget.
Of course, the other 70 million in earmarks don't belong either.
So the "conservatives" in this state are gonna get whoa mad about JBE being a spiteful arse and cutting 1.8M in pork, but they are totally ok with the 70M in other pork.

But the governor struck four provisions out of House Bill 1 that would have given the Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget — made up of senators and House members involved in the state’s finances — more oversight over state government spending.
This included giving the joint budget committee control over $146.7 million in federal homeowners assistance funding. Edwards said in one of his veto letters that the Legislature was frequently trying to exert power over the executive branch — his own office — that wasn’t allowed by the state constitution.
I don't know how I feel about this one. Allocation of federal dollars received feels like an executive branch function.

The Dem's railroaded Hillary and Bernie too, but the voters supported their nominations in the end. I'm not justifying what Rispone said about Abraham, but if you want to win elections, you gotta support the nomination
I've said this for years.
In a general / runoff election, Dems NEVER apply a litmus test to their own candidate. They always fall in line.
Yet, Republicans get butt-hurt all the time and stay home.

State monies for municipal/parish roads and some utility needs I don’t have a ton of distaste for when you consider the centralization of revenues and funding into state government due to having a state income tax and the lowest local property taxes in the country. Opposite of the Texas model.
The rec center, downtown development, signs, etc stuff, local NGO/non profit stuff, every single one of those should absolutely be line-itemed out and vetoed.
