Got a fund-raiser call tonight from Sen. Cornyn's campaign

Got this call. I let the young lady tell me that Beto was going to run against Cornyn and that Chuck Schumer has started an anti-Cornyn election fund. "As a good Republican, you can help by donating, yaddy-yadda."
I don't think she was quite ready for my response. I told her that she can carry this message back to Cornyn:
"Tell Cornyn that you talked to someone active in three Republican groups: city, county and state. Tell him I represent grass-roots Republicans in Texas and that his position, which is in concert with Mitch McConnell, on the Trump impeachment, is that the Senate would not bring to the floor a vote to dismiss any charges brought by the House in a non bi-partisan vote to Impeach President Trump. Until Senator Cornyn repudiate that stance, and publicly tells the House that what they are doing, by not allowing the President to be represented, to not allow the President to face his accuser (the whistle-blower) and to not allow Republicans on the committee to call witnesses, it will not be honored in the Senate and that Sen. Cornyn endorses a vote to dismiss."
She was like," You would support a Democrat over the Republican?"
I told her I would work against Cornyn within Republican circles if he kept his current position on holding a trial in the Senate and he would be wise to pay attention to the base in Texas, not Mitch McConnell.

I wonder if Beto is really going to run or is he just finally going to disappear.

It's one thing for the zillionaire big money kooks to try to buy him a seat when most didn't know who the Hell he was.
If he got close again after thoroughly embarrassing himself repeatedly like he has we really are irreparably inundated with really stupid people. There is ZERO redeemable about him.

Yeah, I found that odd the fundraiser would say Beto is running, when there has been no mention in the press. At least, that I've seen.
Still, Cornyn needs to be replaced in Texas. He is deep state GOP.

Cornyn should consider retiring anyway. I'm sick of looking at these job for life politicians. Cornyn has a law degree. He should go back to lawyering. And I get fundraising shite from him all the time. I think he is knee shaking afraid of Beto anyway.

He’ll run.
Guys like him just don’t get it. Besides, what else has he got to do?

Beto would stomp Cornyn.

He was a shitty AG in TX and got a little better in Congress but that’s not saying much

Yep. Got a text from "Americans for Prosperity Action":
My response:
No response yet.

Hi, it's Elijah with Americans for Prosperity Action. Senator John Cornyn led the way on the 2017 federal tax cuts to allow hard working Texans like us to keep more of our money. Are you supporting Sen. Cornyn's re-election in 2020?
My response:
quote:
Not sure yet. I will wait to see who his primary opponent(s) is(are) prior to committing. John's been a good senator, but there are enough lifers in DC. It makes me fearful of too much backscratching and backroom dealing.
We need to fight for this Republic and we need pugilists willing to call out the liberals (both Democrats and RINO's) and go toe to toe with them. Especially when considering this BS, three year, taxpayer funded clown show that the Democrats have been putting on in trying to oust a duly elected President and run an end-around on the voters.
No response yet.

Yes sir, or ma'am, this rhino needs to go asap.
Beto, hmm seems a stretch after his insistence on taking away our firearms. Now if some other moderate runs and is not all SJW Cornyn might lose but I doubt it. He is hoping the "R" behind his name saves his sorry arse.

You Texas baws need to learn from Louisiana's mistake and stop the Republican infighting. This is how you get senator Beto.

quote:Beto had a much better chance of beating Cruz because Cruz doesn’t appeal to moderate Republicans. Cornyn is close to being a RINO which is Dem-lite.
Beto would stomp Cornyn.

I have not gotten a single GOP call since I told the poor slob that called that they wouldn't get a dime from until they start treating Democrats worse than they do actual conservatives.
Tells me all I need to know about party leadership.

No sir,
We have two types of Republicans.
We have Texas Republicans..... all for the good of the state and old ways and...
Nancy arse Republican Rhinos that just want to get into Washington, Austin, wherever that turn against the people who elected them. These are the liberal dems that put R behnind their names because most small towns vote straight Republican on the ballot.
I am really thinking of doing this on one of our local elections for some minor seat. Just because.

Now that I think about it, there is 0% chance Beto runs. He went wayyyy too far left during this primary to do anything in Texas. He was supposed to be a moderate and that’s why he had success against Ted.

Republicans have to change. I sense dissatisfaction brewing. Repub rank and file are restless.

The melt from this happening would make the Louisiana gubernatorial reaction look mild.
