Yep, White Nationalism
quote:
Representatives from Facebook and Google will be on Capitol Hill Tuesday to face questions from lawmakers about how their platforms are used by white supremacists. The hearing, which is being held by the House Judiciary Committee, comes just a few weeks after a terror attack in New Zealand that was streamed live on Facebook. Fifty people at two mosques were killed in the attack.

Are they also going to address how their platforms can be used by Islamic terrorist? Or inner city gangs? Or Mexican drug cartels?
This white supremicist boogie man sure is getting a shite ton of play, despite not being one of the top 5 most violent groups in America.

Are they going to address how their platform is used by Louis Farrakhan to spread hate?

It’s out of the Russia playbook: repeat it so many times that people assume it’s true

Are they going to address how their platforms are used for dogs doing silly things videos? It could stop a wife from being strangled for constantly saying “you HAVE to see this one!”

What they are going to end up doing is poss off actual skin head groups by not giving them their “due” and set one of the dozens of nut jobs off. Then they will point to it and say “See! I told you skinheads were crawling around everywhere!!!!”

Top 5? How about it not even existing as a group? One glance at the "hate group" stats shows that there is no domestic "White Supremist" violence at all. It's a meme, boosted by the rare instances of white drug violence and prison gangs.

I love how they include this little nugget as if it is somehow pertinent.

Dems are making sure they act on their behalf and as their extension or face consequences.

It's likely this could be the stepping stone for government regulation of the internet. Zuckerberg has already said he wants government regulation of Facebook. I'm guessing the CEO of Google will say the same thing today.
A weird thought: if Congress is interested in learning about white nationalism, why not invite a couple of actual white nationalists to the hearing?
