Update: The New Zealand shooter was a Far Left radical who committed his murders to frame conservatives and attack the United States.

The latest shooting in New Zealand was a revolting act of mass murder.
The 28 year-old assailant, Brenton Harrison Tarrant, had several messages written on his weapon including one that alluded to the Battle of Lepanto, which marked the end of Ottoman expansion in the Mediterranean. Regardless of his delusion of being a war hero, he was not carrying on any battle. Murdering innocent people was a cowardly act.
We’re against the spread of Islam into western countries including the United States. Sharia Law is part of the Muslims’ mandate and it’s not compatible with freedom and our republic. Opposing Islam should be done peacefully—even through radical Muslims continue to murder Christians and engage in terrorist acts of their own.
Predictably, the ‘authorities’ are already calling for more gun control. The media are blaming ‘white nationalists’ and conservatives. Some are saying it’s a false flag. Regardless, one thing is certain: Violence begets violence.

According to his words, looks to me like the left in the U.S. bears more responsibility than does the POTUS. Wouldn't even need to be said if they hadn't immediately pointed the finger at Trump thus mandating a "fact check" of the MSM and leftists.

For being the most irrelevant and unsuccessful poltical orthodoxy of all of American history, conservatives sure have a over-sized sense of self importance.
This guy was not a leftist, and I can assure you that neither he nor anyone needs to waste any time targeting conservatives (read: liberals of 20 years ago).

Honestly, I read a lot of nihilism in his manifesto, where his words were unattached to historical context, and mainly dripped in irony. He's looking for a purpose, in a way that's not dissimilar to lone wolf gunmen in general, or even ISIS lone wolves. I think there is a degree that we discount the sociology of individualized violence.

The guy was jacked up bigly. His whole manifesto is a meme, and it's definitely not politically coherent. There is a segment of the right wing that is 100% nihilistic irony, and their whole shtick is that nothing can be done, so frick it. This guy is either one of those people, or just thinks it is hilarious.

He most definitely was a leftist. He used to be a communist. He is super protect the earth. He expounded his disdain of capitalism. He wants fascism. Which is communism based on race. Not class. He expounded a ton for socialist ideals. He just puts race above all other ideals.
He does hate marxism though. He also hates communism, but as i pointed out, it is the counter to fascism where race is most important, and the least in communism. That is why those forces are opposed to eachother.

Motivations or mental sanity of the Shooter aside, the above is true.
The kind of Freedom that the US was founded upon and that we have long enjoyed can only be possible wherein a vast majority of independent-minded and "moral and Religious people" AGREE on those Constitutional Principles.
To the degree that the People disagree (per Constitutional Principle)...Freedom must and will be restricted for the sake of "security". Constitutional Principle will become totally dysfunctional, as those who view it as unjust and immoral, will simply nullify Law that is based on Constitutional Principle.
We are in the transition from Constitutional Freedom, to Authoritarian Governance. A part of controlling the Populous, will be for Government to (re)distribute basic goods and services. Once Government becomes the arbiter of basic goods and services...Individual Freedom - and guns - become practically useless. If one 'shoots' the Government...they essentially shoot the Mechanism that support their life. Unless one is totally independent of Government-based Mechanisms (Money Systems at the fore).
We can argue...but we won't change the dynamics in play. This Shooter knows that. He has indeed affected World Politics; speeding up the Authoritarian process hegemony, and the ultimate rejection, collapse and reboot therein.
Like McVeigh...likely satisfied and proud of His action. No way the Public ever sees this Guy talk at a Trial.
