Mark Kelly has declared as the DEM opponent to Martha McSally. Gonna be a tough race for Martha. He's going to run on the "My wife got shot" platform. Hero astronaut versus hero fighter pilot. AZ seems to be trending blue after voting for the pink tutu last year, so this could be a flip.

I just saw this. As soon as he declared, they should just give him the seat and spare Arizona the cost of an election.

Somewhere, Martha has probably already said "Well it was a good run..."

It was already blue , McCain and Flake weren't real republicans.

Arizona is full of people who left California because of high taxes and regulations. Crazy thing is they keep voting Democrat. Also, a huge influx of illegals. If not solid blue now, will be soon.

Can you elaborate? I'm truly clueless about him, except for knowing he's an astronaut.

I had to Google to see he was a dem.

It was a veiled reference to Jesse Jackson, who launched his career by soaking his hands in MLK's blood and wiping it on his shirt.

The only thing I know about him is that he got in the national media after his wife got shot and pushed pretty hard for more gun control laws.

His wife was shot in the head and one of her aides killed by a deranged kid who had a years old grudge against her.

Happened while she was giving a speech at a grocery store in Tucson one Saturday morning around 8 years ago.

He is hard core anti gun. This guy is dangerous because his wife gives him a platform where it would be difficult to challenge him without looking like an A-hole. They will parade her out and win every debate.

With his NASA background, he is the perfect example of a big government democrat.

Arizona is probably lost to the Democrats however, Virginia is back in play. It’s amazing how it always seems to balance itself out.

Didn't she run a bad campaign this last election? She lost to a woman who said the Taliban are cool (or something to that effect). What's to say she wins this time?

I wouldn't concede a thing. I'd hang what the Dems have been doing around his neck and make him own it.

Just ask, if this is what you want vote for him. No cars. No AC. No jobs. No ranches. Rationed health care. No freedom. This is him.

Not only that but it's also a state that Trump barely won against Hillary by 3.5 points and the margin is going to be even more closer now four years later having already elected a democrat as a senator.

Arizona is going to be a battle.

Incumbency advantage and the stability that offers and Kelly being a big time gun grabbing liberal.

McSally just lost to XXX Cinema. How is she an incumbent? Am I missing something here?

He and his brother are even worse than Gifford was pre-shooting. He has name recognition, but is he really a threat?

And herein lies the problem. This guy is counting on people tiptoeing around the issue. In a free society, bad things sometimes happen to good people. What's the alternative? Abolishing the 2nd Amendment? Do that and the government will be the one's shooting people in the head, and without any punishment either.
