Why not? In 2018 Democrats won the house, lost the senate, then floyd gave them an excuse and they rioted.
State governors told police to stand down and let the rioters run amok. That's all they have to do. They basically dared trump to do anything about the chaos.
Trump does something = he is a tyrant with no legitimacy. He does nothing = He is a weakling with no legitimacy.
He then lost 2020 bigly when people were prepared to do anything to go back to normalcy again.
Why not run the same playbook? It worked. Sure its not the same now but why not try it again? They have nothing to lose (he wont do shite) and everything to gain (power)

These are tried and true tactics. The people behind all of this openly talk about using these tactics in other countries and even going so far as to using mob pressure to influence courts to side with them in order to overthrow governments. They've already been doing it as you say, and they're going to continue doing it until they get what they want out of it.
I think it's coming either way. I don't think they have to wait to win midterms. I don't think they WILL win midterms. Which makes it even more imperative for them to pull this shite anyways.

We’re in pre election phase where polls are being used to demoralize turnout and possibly be used to delegitimize elections. With fraud you need polls ahead of the vote to support vote totals. They’ve done this for years now.
