The issue with reducing tax rates is the degree of the cuts and how they are distributed. I agree that lowering of corporate tax rates and encouragement to get repatriated money back into the US was needed. Permanently lowering the rate to 21% and with the majority of cuts benefiting the wealthy were imbalanced, and our Federal tax revenue is insufficient to pay for our expenses. The Trump budget proposal earlier this year or maybe last year that was shot down proposed a corresponding 2 trillion cut to social security, Medicare, and Medicare, to offset the revenue shortfall from the tax cuts which is bad policy and political suicide. The massive debt is the issue that few are talking about and the silence from the Republicans on this traditional Republican philosophy is deafening.
