It is virtually impossible to buy a home in Dallas proper or North Dallas without making 6 figures or 2 income household.

Must be fricking nice. You can get a sweet studio in barrio logan for this price out here

I can assure you that figure is fricking low if you actually want to live anywhere decent.

Everybody knows Austin is the most liberal city in Texas. Even years ago when I was a student there, I remember the city turning away industries like tire manufacturers because of pollution, etc.

They have a duly elected local government. Why not let them decide how they want to run their city? Are they somehow violating the state or US constitutions?

I live in Nw Austin as well. Right off of Steck. How about you?

A little further south.

Ya, MOPAC construction is a joke. They say September now. From the looks of it that may actually happen from eyeballing it.

Traffic isn't really an issue for us thankfully. 10 minutes to work for me, and my wife leaves for downtown after the morning rush and comes back later. The added lane will be a nice option though on any day that's not true.

I think the Bay area's housing problem is contributed by their lack of willingness to build more dense housing in San Mateo county. Their regulatory stranglehold on new development hurts their ability to increase housing supply.

Austin should contain and restrict housing development. Previous growth in the area has just about pushed the Edwards Aquifer to its limit.

Bay Area is also an international market which drives up demand.

Arguably one of the cheapest international markets in the world though when compared to the others.
