I don't think mocking government policy is mocking America itself, unless you identify the government as being the essence and true identity of America.

For all you anti-immigrant types...
(1) Identify an unsupportable goal. i.e., increased "illegal immigration"
(2) Relabel the goal in some innocuous generic way. i.e., "immigration"
(3) Use the twisted terminology to address opponents of #1, and enable accusations of anti-immigrant racism.
(4) Rinse and repeat.

Aren't we all immigrants in a sense?
the US is a civilized land that has laws, policies and processes to protect the homeland for a host of reasons. (Just like every other nation)
Our population currently is comprised of 13% immigrants...or 40 Million from another country that now call USA 'home'!
You show me a country that has anywhere near 40 million aliens in their country? How about even 1 million? I'd be surprised
Multiculturalism is an experiment. No other country has the diversity that we have. We don't know if this will end well or not?
No other country welcomes or attracts people like the USA.
Your race baiting comments are not welcome and do not reflect reality.
I do think there is a push back from older whites that feel like America is "being taken over".
People in Houston Texas for example can have that attitude lingering in their hearts. They feel like the minority in their own city.
Is that a good thing?

So what your saying is that you support illegal immigration and don't want to do anything to stop it?
OK....
OK....

We need to teach better in our socialized school system, and say the pledge of allegiance again, that thing written by a socialist minister.
God Bless the socialized national defense, and our socialized courts!

I never realized how many America haters are also Saints fans. Weird

I don't hate America. I hate what hurts it.

Wasn't intentional at all.

Like illegal immigration?
and anyone who doesn't think that an open borders policy would be the downfall of this country is either young and naive or borderline retarded.

I think the biggest threat to our freedom and prosperity is our own government. Immigration is a red herring.

Oh look. Another thread confusing legal and illegal immigration.
Posted on 6/28/14 at 9:47 am to JazzyJeff
If the people illegally "immigrating" were voting 90+ % GOP instead of the other way around, none of you phony Democrats would be pro-illegal immigrant. You would be gathering in large idiotic groups on the border to smoke dope and build massive impenetrable walls to keep them out.
Posted on 6/28/14 at 9:49 am to Patrick O Rly
I don't think taxpayers believe it to be a "red herring"

Doesn't mean it isn't. At best it's just a symptom of the real problem, which is socialized monopolies and government owned land.

You should see all the White Ethiopians who basically run the Denver Airport. It was great to see so many more white immigrants working so hard to live the American dream.
You really aren't that intelligent and have bad ideas on what racism is.
A lot of hard working Ethiopian immigrants who came in legally to get a chance to a better future. That's what most Americans welcome. When you become an American Jeff let us know.

Funny thing is...Jeff is living in Japan. One of the most openly racist countries on the planet

You can only have one of these.

An open border with no welfare state and no/little entitlements.
Take your pick OP. Those are your choices.
Posted on 6/28/14 at 10:15 am to Scruffy
I want both. No welfare/nanny state with a strict immigration policy.
Posted on 6/28/14 at 10:19 am to Scruffy
That was Milton Friedman's point. Ellis Island is celebrated by almost everyone as a good thing, but that was pre-welfare.
Another thing to think about (this has to do with another point I made earlier), do you sit awake at night worrying about how your someone across town is going to deal with security? Do you worry if he's going to build a fence at not? Oh course you don't. It's not your property. It's not under your care, so the worry isn't with you.
The concept of public property flips this on it's head. All of the sudden, you are worried, and any violation of this property seems like an affront to you. But what has changed? Nothing really, other than you are paying for it's care. You don't have any say or control over this land. It's not even guaranteed that you'll have access to this land you supposedly own.
