It’s tough to believe that other states produce as much as or more than they consume, that’s all.

Think of it this way: Texas has a shite load of heavy industry. States like Pennsylvania and Alabama used to have a shite load of heavy industry back in the day when most coal burning power plants were built. Penn and Alabama don't really have the heavy industry that they once had but the infrastructure was built for it. So they are able to export electricity.

It absolutely is for profit. They cant pay $4 a Kwh and have the public paying $0.04. So the turn it off with "rolling blackouts". Rolling my fricking arse. We were without power for 36 hours while Houston is lite up like a fricking Christmas tree. Then they shut the shite off as soon as it starts getting dark. The revolt is coming and people are going to die.

One of America’s biggest assets and one of Texas biggest assets, is coal, from Bituminous to lignite, foreign interest and special interest groups have been pushing for years to shut coal down, one of our largest natural resources. The one major advantage coal gives America is the ability to be energy independent. Some foreign interest don’t like us being energy independent or many of the other freedoms we’ve had. They put billions into political groups and special interest groups to help convince our government to shut down all the coal burners, do a Google search of how many coal burning power plants have been shut down in the last 10 years, you may be shocked to find that over 300 and still counting have been forced down by government regulations and most of what is left will be closing in the next few years. There is more involved here than bad choices by power companies, there are politics and special interest involved and most Americans have set back watching and not concerned. It’s ok to diversify the power supply but for American to stay the American we have grown to know, major power supplies besides wind and solar will be required.
