Most people need a car to commute to and from work

I know this is shocking to you but most Americans don't have some massive short term savings. When they're out of work for 3-4 weeks things start to get dicey really fast.

Been a lot fewer cars since. Anyone who could afford food decided they weren't going to mess with that.

Which is fine and should be the way it works. It should not be super convenient to get free stuff. Those that truly need it will be willing to wait in line.

I wonder how well Joe Burrows food bank has handled this.

I was actually thinking about that. They are probably in a great position thanks to all of the private donations that were funneled their way.

Agree.

Probably a second factor in play as well: people were afraid that the shelves would be empty at the grocery store even if they had the money. By now people know they can buy food.

Most of these things are non-profit / NGOs running them... Honestly, I would rather that food stamp / welfare recipients be required to go stand in line to pick up their food once per week rather than get it on a card...

Go back to the old commodity program...

Quite presumptuous of you to assume their spending habits without knowing anything about them

I volunteer at a food bank. We are keeping up with demand, but what is messing with us is our local health department. They are sending spies to make sure social distancing is being enforced and threatening to fine us, when the people in line aren't following them. We started giving numbers and calling in 10 at a time. It has slowed the process and people have to wait longer, but local churches have kept up with the food demand. How much longer is a different question, since they aren't having services and passing the plate around.

So if one were to peruse your posting History, I assume there would be no instances of you making assumptions about people you don't know, correct?

It's a food bank

Meaning this is for people who can't afford to buy from a grocery store
It's for people who want free shite. The people in those pics sure didnt look to be hungry or in dire straits.
