A prominent Democratic organization run by former Attorney General Eric Holder waited just hours after the Census Bureau released new apportionment figures to file the first lawsuits of this decade’s redistricting process, a preview of what is all but certain to be the most litigated remap in American history.

The National Redistricting Action Fund, a nonprofit allied with the National Democratic Redistricting Committee, filed what's known as “impasse litigation” in Louisiana, Minnesota and Pennsylvania on Monday.

The three suits anticipate gridlock in the redistricting process in three states where the two parties will each share control of the mapmaking

The suits ask courts to prepare to draw their own maps in the event that the two parties cannot reach an agreement.

“These lawsuits are just the first of many steps we will be taking in the coming weeks and months to ensure the redistricting process is not subverted by politicians who want to hold onto power at the expense of fair representation,” Holder said in a statement.

Marc Elias, the Democratic attorney who has emerged as the most prominent litigator in redistricting and election law cases in recent years, said in an email his team filed the suits to prevent potential delays. Because of pandemic-related delays in finalizing the decennial Census, legislators will have only a short window of time this year to finalize proposed maps before the primary season begins.

Now if there ever was a legitimate NO STANDING refusal by a court this should be it.

Take your choice, Dems.

One minority-majority district in LA making absolutely no geographic sense or a bunch of normal districts in which Dems would stand a chance if they were sane.

Now is the time to introduce some sort of analytical analysis into the drawing of districts.

with the computing power we have today, we should be able to put a topographical map description into a computer along with roadway descriptions and population density/acre data from the census.

Create an algorithm to produce the required number of contigeuos district boundaries containing the same number of individuals based solely on population density with as few district boundaries definitions as possible using nothing but county lines, prominent ridges, rivers, major thoroughfares, and straight survey lines as possible. Not one variable that is indicative of race, age, sex, political party, affluence, or city/township/corporate boundaries. Let the "people" be represented only by their physical residence, nor their physical appearance or thought process, or condition of birth = you are what you have made of yourself and may vote according to your own interests.

These gerrymandering exercises at every opportunity is the reason we have so many absolute mental idiots in congress today.

Can you imagine Hank Johnson being elected by any real 'choice of ordinary people' ??

ESPECIALLY application to 99% of the Black Congressional Congress and to 85% of the DEM party - and to at least 33% of the GOP.

Plus - we need to do the same thing for State LEGISLATURES and go back to THOSE legislatures to select the US SENATORs to represent their state.

Our founders were the most prescient group in history.

these rang the death knell for the viability of the nation.

encouraged the DEMs to use blacks as their storm troopers, sacrificing THEIR quality of life for eternal subservience to the DEMs rule for their sustenance. Robbed them of the ability to use their god-given talents in a world of equal opportunity to build a far better future for their progeny.

Instead, DEMs convinced the newly emancipated blacks to sacrifice their progeny for the sake of 'easy living' offered by the DEMs in exchange for their votes.

Almost 3 generations into this dystopia and now we already have feral mobs dictating national policy. Imagine the conditions to come after 10 generations of this human disaster.

Will never get to 10. This won't make it past 5 before it implodes on itself.
