Yep, the team is gone. The team that was researching and pushing for algorithmic transparency and algorithmic choice. The team that was studying algorithmic amplification. The team that was inventing and building ethical AI tooling and methodologies. All that is gone.

Elon said himself that he wanted a timeline of posts by everyone you follow rather than an algorithm choosing what you see. Who cares about algorithmic transparency when the CEO doesn't want one in the first place. For an algorithm to work, you have to intentionally promote or suppress information. That again, goes 100% against what Elon wants.

Some of these people never heard the phrase "just because you can, doesn't mean you should". Probably blew a bunch of smoke up some director's arse about how they can use AI for something but instead spend money on a worthless project.
