The problem? Florida doesn’t have the authority to adopt daylight saving time year-round. The federal government controls the nation’s time zones, as well as the start and end dates of daylight saving time. States can choose to exempt themselves from daylight saving time — Arizona and Hawaii do — but nothing in federal law allows them to exempt themselves from standard time.

Get Big Government out of our clocks! Each state should set the time however they want, or allow cities and counties to set their own time keeping governance.

Sounds logistically retarded. However, I'm interested in living where it is always 6PM. I'd never be sober again.

I kind of agree with government here. DST is not the real time. No issues with them staying Standard, but it is retarded to choose savings time. States should not be able to pick a time zone of their choosing

DST should be abolished across the country.

I agree with this.

Didn't Arizona choose to not use DST? As well as Indianapolis?

That the federal government dictates such things as mind-blowing

what the frick are you talking about? There isn't something called a real time. If every state in the nation suddenly was Daylight savings all the time that would be the real time

What? You think what your clock says is based on some fricking Universal constant

Well noon is supposed to be straight up sun somewhere in your zone so there is a natural reason.

The reasoning is probably to prevent the country from becoming a checkerboard

Well that's obviously inconsistent with our allowance that states exempt themselves from Daylight saving time, but I guess I see the reasoning in not allowing states and local municipalities to go wild with setting their own clocks. It's not worth the economic cost of keeping track of it all.

As a preference, I'm not a fan of DST. I don't get anything out of the sun setting at 9pm and rising at five. When I lived in Germany it was after 10 in late summer (and rising at 4:30). Screw that. Night time is the right time.

As a citizen of the eastern time zone id prefer they keep things the way they are.

I believe fed has jurisdiction on this because it impacts not just interstate but international commerce

For the most part, I think time should be the same year round, without any changes, but there is 1 thing, that makes it a good thing.

The time adjustments help keep rural kids from boarding/getting off the school bus at their house in the dark.
That is the only good thing I see about it.
