They had egg timers. The “bombs” were placed 15 hours earlier. They wouldn’t explode. Which is why when at least one was “discovered” the police let a group of school kids walk by the spot.
I remember after this happened a photo was put online of FBI “training bombs”.
Oddly enough, the ones found look remarkably similar to the FBI training models.
