The US FAA has issued a prohibition on US carriers operating in Venezuelan territory/airspace below 26,000 feet and has given any US operators in Venezuela 48 hrs to depart via the ‘most expeditious possible route’.

1) Russians told the U.S. that anything in the air may or will be shot down by Cuban ground to air missile batteries; or,

2) U.S. is about to get REAL serious. This FAA thing is only an opening gambit to assess any reaction from Russia/Cuba.

The lack of planes reminds me of the nighttime sat view of North Korea.

IMO it's more of a precaution against missiles, rather than a precursor to us going in.

The very last thing Russia, or Cuba would want to do, is shoot down an American airliner, or US military plane over Venezuela. The economic response would be catastrophic for either country, not to mention the military response of the lone superpower, in there own back yard.

Think about it for a second. Russian or Cubans shooting down a United States plane over a foreign country? There is no possible gain only severe pain, both economically and militarily.

I don't think we'll be dropping chaff/flares on anyone.

Precaution against missiles. Doubt any American operators are left there anyway

If the Cubans shot down or even attempted to shoot down a US commercial or military plane, Raul Castro would be joining Maduro as another deposed dictator

What is that? It looks too big to be a C130. What is it doing? I’ve seen real gunships in action, flying way lower, and the ordinance was different and it was many, many years ago. Again, what is that?

Those are countermeasures to divert incoming heat seeking missiles.
