This guy does a very good job of explaining why.

Exactly.

A hybrid returns some of the energy used, back to re-charging the battery. I have a plug-in hybrid, and get far better gas mileage than the gas-only, powered model, regardless if I plug it in, or not. I do plug it in every chance I get, due to an even greater increase in the mileage. I get the benefits of fuel savings, combined with the ability to do long range driving.

There’s clearly a demand for new EVs which is exhibited by the fact they’re all sold out. What’s goes unnoticed is that other than Tesla’s the novelty seems to immediately fade after the first production run, which show how much of a novelty item these vehicles are. Every company is raising prices yet GM is slashing the price of its Bolt. …that’s insane given the current car climate. I don’t think anyone will be surprised to see the same issue with F150s, Mustangs, Cadillacs after the early adopters get there’s…and the rest of the population realizes they don’t really like what’s being offered

When is the last time you went to a dealer, pretty much all new models EV or ICE sell out quickly. Just because they Are sold out don't mean shite people are just buying new what they can.

A hybrid doesn't need a charging station to see gas-saving benefits.

Not the vehicle I rented. It only got around 22 mpg and a full electric charge you can drive fully eletric for 25-30 miles. The average came out to almost 26 mpg. In a city where daily commutes are short you could charge and barely use gas ,but have it when you need it. If you live in a rural area and commute 30+ miles to work daily or drive long distances, than I don't see much of a benefit. For what you will spend to ensure you can charge it will make it not really worth it. Again it all depends on situation whether or not you would see the benefit of a hybrid and it also depends on the vehicle.

We have a hybrid Highlander 35 mpg ,Prius 56 mpg,we live out in country so majority of our driving is on highway.Hybrids typically get better mileage in city driving but we’re happy with what we are getting.

If Toyota ever comes out with an electric Tacoma,I will seriously consider it.

Kinda goes against what a Tacoma is made for, there are no charging stations on the trail

I keep beating this drum.

Where are all these batteries coming from?
Cobalt, Lithium, etc arent unlimited.
Must be mined.

Ignoring the electricity supply issue.
The charging station issue.
Drastically lowered range in hot or cold weather.
Drastically lowered range while towing.

Where the frick are the battery materials coming from?

Me too man. Me too.

Plus, if your cars are paid for, then you can buy ALOT of gas for what an electric car payment would be. 50-65k cars bring a large car payment, in the 700-900 range. Your gas bill on your paid off car is no more than 250-300.
