I wonder if there are any evergreen trees that would actually have strong enough limbs to hang someone from AND have the limbs wide enough apart.

Cedars, Leyland Cypress, Holly, can't think of many Evergreens that would've been ideal for lynching. Maybe Magnolias or Redwoods.
