Recovery costs three times as much as preparedness. When several of these great programs get lumped together with some of the bad ones that they are axing, and something bad happens in this country, the cost to get back to normal will be much higher than the cost of not being prepared. I'm all for an audit into a system that's never really been audited, but this entire process has been reckless and will backfire badly if they don't do it more diligently.

youre getting downvoted but youre spot on.

An uber rich person with outsized influence over the federal government complaining about bureaucracy is a bit ironic. There is nothing democratic about what he is doing.

All the agencies that comprise the Bureaucratic State present opportunities for the well connected skunks in the federal government to enrich themselves, their family members and friends, been going on for decades and that's why so many lifers in the federal government are much wealthier than if they had worked in the private sector.

Ok, but the scope and scale of how private business enrich themselves off the federal government both in terms of cash and regulatory protection is another universe.

Elon is a liberal posing as a conservative in order to achieve his ultimate dream of leading the enslavement of humanity to machine algorithms. He is a traitor to humanity who believes us plebes are basically lab rats that can have their lives and productivity optimized like human livestock to maximize his profit margins. He is a technocratic version of Joseph Mengele that needs to be ended as soon as possible to minimize the damage he is doing to human life in general. Most of you idiots will follow this guy right to your own damnation and not think twice about it.

There's nothing D"democratic" about attacking the waste and fraud in the government? May not be "democratic" but it's sure as hell "patriotic.

I'll ask you the same question that the all-knowing 4cubbies and powerman were scared to touch. AS JUST ONE EXAMPLE OF GOVERNMENTAL WASTE AND FRAUD, werent you appalled to discover that $2 BILLION DOLLARS was given to Stacey Abrams?

I'm sure you want touch it, either. None of you "Big Government" clowns ever want to deal in actual facts.

Elon isn't President, genius. He's looking into fraud and waste in the government. The corrupt powers-that-be don't like it, and they've brainwashed stupid street stooges like you into actually thinking that reducing governmental waste and fraud is a terrible thing.

Buy a vowel and get a clue, dumbass.

For most things not including “providing for the general defense..” the states are (and should be) better equipped at dealing with this. Instead of national agencies, the feds should be working for the state governments. Especially FEMA. They should be a support organization not a directing one.
