The entire purpose of the ranked system is to force third party voters into the two party system. Democrats fear losing votes to the Greens and Republicans fear losing votes to Libertarians. Ranked voting guarantees that third party voters will be funneled back to the big two.

If you love the national Republican or Democrat platform then closed primaries sound great.
I liked it better when we had some variety but that’s just me.
For instance I’d prefer we had moderate democrats that weren’t defund the police, open border Marxists. Fiscally responsible, non interventionist Republicans are my ideal candidates. Both nearly extinct in 2026.
Elon’s class of people prefer the party platform be more controlled from the top down, for obvious reasons.
