On a related note there is no justifiable reason for the death penalty to exist
I would say that preventing a person from becoming a repeat offender is one justifiable reason for the death penalty.

Now I ideally support the death penalty because if you take a person's life away against their will, you have to pay the ultimate price in kind, death is the only appropriate punishment for you.
an eye for an eye am i right?
When will the United States wake up and join the 20th century in abolishing the death penalty like every other civilized nation on earth. Not surprising that conservatives want to keep us in the company of Syria and Saudi Arabia

Murder is a crime where the victim cannot recover at all. Such a grotesque offense requires the punishment of the offender that fits the offense.

Not revenge. Some have committed crimes so heinous they have lost the right to inhabit the earth the rest of humanity IMO.

Anyone supporting the death penalty has to subscribe to the idea of an all powerful, infallible government.
IOW, only a statist would support the death penalty.

And you trust the government to determine who those people are?

When I first read the title I thought it said, "Electric chair could return for elections in Louisiana". Now that would be an idea I could support.

No, you just don't know what justice means.
Justice is eye for an eye.
I'm only in favor of capital punishment in certain circumstances, but to say that there is no justifiable justification for it is just flatly wrong due to the nature of justice.

I'm opposed to the death penalty, but this seems absurd that the method determined to be the least torturous would be hamstrung by protesting drug companies, thus resulting in a more torturous method.
If an alternative is chosen, the guillotine always seemed the surest, quickest, and least painful, even though I'm sure it's gruesome to observe and to clean up afterward.
