How did you arrive at this conclusion?

This incident happened in a couple minutes. You're talking about harrassment

What are some examples of words, that just by mere utterance, justify a blow to the head?

Subjective.

According to my personal morals, I'd view those committing assault in a dimmer light.

Yeah we're on the same wavelength. I was trying to acknowledge the flaw in my definitive statement that dcbl alluded to.

Bullying and Suicide

quote:

There is a strong link between bullying and suicide, as suggested by recent bullying-related suicides in the US and other countries. Parents, teachers, and students learn the dangers of bullying and help students who may be at risk of committing suicide.

In recent years, a series of bullying-related suicides in the US and across the globe have drawn attention to the connection between bullying and suicide. Though too many adults still see bullying as “just part of being a kid,” it is a serious problem that leads to many negative effects for victims, including suicide. Many people may not realize that there is also a link between being a bully and committing suicide.

Oh, I understand your perspective is through a different lens than mine. I just can't view these two parties as sharing blame for the reasons I've stated.

It seems that we are arguing semantics at this point

NSB is correct; responding to an insult from a stranger because of a slight or insult (even a vile one) is inappropriate

but if you call my wife a count in frnt of my kids, I will respond physically

does it make me right?

no

am I more wrong than you?

probably

if I were black and you called me a n---- ; my reaction would depend on the circumstance

are we at a bar and you are being an a-hole?

I probably walk away

are we at the park and you said it in front of my kids?

I probably punch you...

Yeah I hear what you're saying. I'm just arguing from a position of legal subjectivity as best as I can (it's a little cleaner than moral arguments, I'm just not very polished at the approach as of yet. My apologies--thanks for bearing with me ).

Hence why I have been trying more and more to stick to burden of responsibility for choices made as opposed to focusing as much as potentially subjective blame regarding the result.

And I'm saying it wasn't an "idea" it all. It was an emotional reaction that resulted from being assaulted.

Call it what you wish - a bad emotional reaction, whatever. However, I usually have control over my brain and can recognize that in certain situations I don't issue commands to certain people and don't use certain words.

Again with this "idea" shite. She didn't plan this out.

You're being too literal to the point of absurdity.

quote:

Wait. Did you just compare a bus full of black people to a crocodile infested river? Wow.

I would say a bus full of thugs, playing loud music, ignoring basic social etiquette is somewhat comparable to a river full of crocs...you should be aware of the danger and proceed accordingly. I figure if she's riding that bus in that neighborhood she would probably have a greater appreciation for the danger than most.

Similar to a previously raised analogy, you don't tell a bunch of bikers to turn off that skynyrd and after one of them pops you call them a bunch of f a g g o t asses. They've assaulted you and are criminally responsible...but from a practical standpoint your actions constitute a bad idea (or, sorry, emotional response).

I've only been called that once to my face and had it meant as a pejorative. Aftermath of a heated football game, and a rival fan was throwing shite at the wall trying to get a rise out of me.

I've seen my dad endure such in front of me, though, and he handled the situation with aplomb (and without fisticuffs of any sort). Hopefully I won't have to ever endure that situation in front of my son, but if I do, I'm prepared to follow my dad's example. It made an impression on me.

And, to be honest, most of my comments in this thread were motivated by the "rightfully got her arse kicked" nonsense that was posted. I'm not excusing her use of the word, I'm just giving her a little leeway because she said it in response to being hit in the head.

I think it's important, when assigning blame here, to consider that she was the initial victim, not the aggressor.

How did she know they were thugs before they acted in a thuggish manner?

Your whole tact throughout this has been dishonesty. You misrepresent what people say and are now going to play this game?

There's nothing dishonest about the question. You just don't want to answer it. How would she know the people on the bus were thugs?

You've been practicing low expectation racism for most of the thread.
