Judge the voters all you want Pontius but no voters should be confused by ballots. Sorry you're pro confusion in elections because you pre judge people you've never met. Your a great American citizen.

This lawsuit is the attempt to cheat.

The candidate has been ruled as properly on the ballot by the Alaska Supreme Court. His candidacy is not in question.

I mean think about this.

How are you going to write a law to prevent this situation from happening again? People with the same name can't run in the same election?

We're about to get a lot of "It's not who you vote for. It's who you INTEND to vote for" which will be a big hit with Saints fans in particular

Why have a democrat listed on the ticket that got 2.5% of the primary vote?

you don't believe this other Dan Sullivan joined the race to confuse voters?

He finished in 3rd place with 2.5% of votes. You think he should be on the ticket?

Sounds like an attempt to confuse voters to me. That's exactly how you people operate. Cheat any way you can.

It's Alaska. They have ranked choice voting. As long as any candidate stays in the race, they're on the ballot.
And if Alaska uses the system where a voter has to vote for every candidate, and rank which priority they place each candidate.... This makes a bad system even more of a mess.

I mean we all know this is a parlor trick by the Democratic party.

But hes an actual candidate on the ballot and no law exists to prevent that else he wouldnt be on the ballot.

My question is...how in the shite could anybody write a law to prevent this?

I don't know. I don't guess you can. But maybe a ticket should only have primary party winners listed, and all others can be written in.

Rs should just do the same thing in every state. Just find some school teacher with the same name to run. That's what Alaska is doing. I betcha it would bring a lawsuit from a democrat judge, which would be quite ironic.

You don't need an 11th commandment.
Instead of laughing calling people stupid and giving up you just need to print ballots that makes it extremely clear and makes you stop and think for 10 seconds and clearly marks when candidates have similar names. There are experts who make emergency markers plain to read road signs. Visual cues to help people. Colors. Borders. Freekin arrows. It's doable. No law just common fricking sense to help voters in confusing bill terminology and similar names. JFC

It's mostly up to the state election officials, which have the say in how the names appear on the ballot.

But. If said officials told a candidate they ruled had to be changed, it would also mean the candidate's application has to be changed. If the officials don't give the candidate enough time before the deadline, there's a lot of problems.

In this particular instance, I am afraid I don't know what happened tho.
