Doesn't it make more sense for Kim and NoKo to fall in line?

I mean he might be insane but he can't be stupid enough to believe that continued aggression can't/won't be met with a whole lot of death and destruction, including his own? He has to know that trying to be the tough guy is a losing proposition.

Wouldn't it be smarter to realize your place in the world, play along and vastly improve your economy, subsequently putting even more money in your own pocket and becoming the greatest leader the people of NoKo have ever seen? It still seems like you could control a lot of the information your citizens get if you're still hell bent on that. And you certainly don't have to become a democracy. Kim would be an even bigger God to his people than he was before if he can bring food, electricity, jobs, wealth to his people.

That's my play if I'm Kim. NoKo is like a little chihuahua in a room full of pit bulls. He'll never win so why not do what you're told, get sanctions lifted, start participating in the global economy...profit?

Drumpf is getting impeached. Mueller and Schneiderman have him this time!

I like to think that Kim is finally in a position where he does not have to fall in line. The strings have been cut, and for the first time we are seeing a North Korea allowed to do what is best for their people.

It's not a matter of falling in line. That's what Kim was doing prior to the strings being cut. He's no longer a hostage and he's doing the right thing now. That's why peace will succeed this time.

I think this is the most important part. If he concedes his nukes, he won't always be looking over his shoulder wondering who's trying to kill him. Opens up the country to have an actual economy, country thrives, he looks like the savior. Win-win.

Kim is playing trump.
There’s only 2 Americans that think Kim is a good dude. Trump and rod-man.

So we're just lifting sanctions and letting the little looney toon do whatever he wants?

There are stipulations to giving his country an opportunity to compete/trade/work with the rest of the world, right?

I don’t trust anything that has to do with North Korea.

It is a good start to meet with Kim. There should have been less media involved on both sides. It allows way to much spin for NK.

Kim is much smarter than we give him credit for. He doesn’t care about his people he cares about power.

By 'fall in line', don't you mean 'bend a knee'?

North Korea could get a pretty sweet deal out of this. They were annoying and aggressive just to the line it appears, and now they could actually make strides towards modernization.

I’m glad this is happening but I’m wondering what kind of behavior that might set as an example for other rogue nations.

I believe that NoKo will collapse eventually if Kim doesn't start making some reforms. The key to all this is that Trump is tying the US-Chinese relationship to NoKo. Kim can remain in power and NoKo can prosper but its going to have to be a gradual process otherwise once the NoKo people realize how duped they have been, they will kill him. Further, the power structure in the country may well overthrow him if he doesn't start some reforms so they can share in the wealth.

The one in which you claimed Kim doesn't have to fall in line.

If you were curious as to the definition of that phrase..."A person or an organization starts to follow the rules and behave according to expected standards of behaviour"

Kim might be the chihuahua in the room, but NK had a louder bark after meeting with Pompeo.
