Doc Rivers and the paucity of love - upon further review - I

listen to high school athletes say " I really, really like Coach Jones and XZY college because of the love they show me". That has always struck me as odd.
Well, when one fails to be loved at home then one seeks acceptance elsewhere - could be a team, a church, a group of misfits and the likes.
Further, why should I heed authority when it was never present and if authority is so good why didn't I get any.
Is America being asked, at some level, to be the surrogate parent lacking in so many homes? Not a justification, simply an observation and question or two.

Highly intelligent perspective.

WTF?
I was, and am, well and truly loved "at home" and I still appreciate love from elsewhere.

Yep, and it defines who you are. And you can thank your exceptional Father, and "life's lottery"...or the Good Lord for your extraordinarily wonderful fate.
A lot of kids aren't so lucky.

This is a really good take and would be a great topic of discussion for Doc and his band of millionaires to discuss.
I wonder how many people lost their jobs because of what they did? How much love are the players and coaches showing those hard working folks who are trying to pay bills and keep food on the table?

You're probably onto something there. There isn't a single cause to the problems facing poor and/or inner city youth, but the absence of an authority figure and the teaching of respect for authority has to be pretty high up on the list.

Thankfully, I have literally nary a clue who Doc Rivers is, and I don't feel like looking up.
I gather his is an NBA player? Perhaps a doctor of some sort? Based on the posts, he is obviously a whiny little bitch, too lazy to look up ACTUAL statistics regarding police shootings of blacks.

Raising kids in a 2 parent home (regardless of race) is the easiest way to generate generational wealth for a family. A 2 parent home also provides 2 paths of discipline for children, in addition to another set of parental eyes. The amount of children being born out of wedlock in certain communities is staggering. If those communities don’t preach to people to practice raising their children in 2 parent homes, then generational wealth will continue to be an unattainable dream and they will continue to feel like a victim and unloved

They may well be looking for a surrogate parent.
...But at the same time Doc fails to see that the rioting/looting/militant sect of AA’s has become the abusive husband figure to conservative America’s battered wife.
It’s like the abusive husband screaming, “Why don’t you love me?!?!” as he wallops the shite out of his bride.

If you have ever coached little league in just about any location throughout this country, you know the answer to this.

Nice post, but not quite complete.
Yes, so many fatherless homes are leading to our youth looking for leadership, belonging and love in their lives. Far too many are finding this in the wrong places.
But, a bigger problem is they are being told by so called leaders in the aa community that white people are the source of their problems.
No amount of “social justice” or “change” will fix the problems they see as white people are not the problem.

quote:It seems to me that they're referring to the respect they receive for their physical abilities and work ethic. Hopefully they're realistic enough to know that that respect is limited or expanded by their potential value to the sports team. It's not love on a personal level, just appreciation.

As for the surrogate parent thing, nope. Aside from food on the table, imo kids need three things above all: parental love, discipline and guidance. So although America is asked, and forced, to pay the way of the needy, when it comes to discipline and guidance there's a hands-off, mouth-shut policy. The result is millions of miserable kids with no moral compass and no future.

I will never have respect for people who aren't man enough to be a father to their own kids. I know that's not all black people but there is a lot of them that impregnate a woman and then take no responsibility whatsoever for the child. They deserve no respect, much less love. For the black guys who are fathers to your kids this is not meant for you, but for the rest....... Man the frick up and quit projecting your bullshite on others, it's disgraceful
