There is too much uncertainty. Whose to say next month Trump won't just up and undo any tariffs a business was counting on?

Hopefully he does. That means he got the concessions he was aiming for. Have you never negotiated a thing in your life? When you’re in the power position….you go for the kill. You said you were a programmer in San Jose. Makes sense. Not diminishing what you did. I spend half my time in San Jose. Lovely town. But programmers aren’t businessmen.

Liar. Just yesterday you were whining about tax cuts. Be honest. You have TDS. That is the beginning and end of it.

Trump just cut taxes and they have laid off a lot of federal workers.

And he spent all day yesterday whining about that. He has no convictions. Just OMB.

Funny that there is zero documentation that exists to show that this claim is true. As usual, we here a lot of bluster and no facts are presented.

You could’ve answered this in several ways, but this is the only answer that is explicitly 100% incorrect by definition.

This is like saying the earth is flat.

Tariff can hurt an exporter by curtailing incentive to import from that country, but a tariff by definition is a tax that importers pay their government.

Actually you are both correct. The importer "pays" the tariff, but the exporter has reduced his price to reflect the tariff so the end price to the consumer remains virtually the same.

There was a study posted on here recently showing, why, after all the hand wringing about "a tax to consumers"......our inflation went down on consumer goods.

I'm in the game. Customs broker who works for the importer pays the direct tariff and they do bill the importer. however it is not as simple as that. To find out who really pays for tariff is really impossible without the master agreement between the two parties.

Rebel is correct. I have exported to various countries for decades. You always start at the consumer price point and work yourself back, including local distributor margin, VAT, tariffs, other taxes like alcohol, duties. Sometimes I take less margin and the importer to hit the price point.

And this is why countries are ticked, they have to lower their price coming into the states, and in a country like china where these same companies are owned by the govt, it stings.

That's the point, hopefully the tariffs are just a negotiating tool and not permanent because if it's permanent it's just another tax.

I might do more than program.

Yikes. You probably don’t want to bring that thread up again. But what the hell. I’ll ask for a tenth time. Be specific….what’s the lag on inflation?

Increase in government spending = increase in taxes. Where do you think the funding for the increase in government spending comes from? More taxes.

All he did was change the manner in which you are taxed in order to say it was a tax cut so people who don't understand basic economics will be happy and cheer.

But again, an increase in government spending is an increase in taxes.

Questions like this just highlight you don't understand what inflation is.

It can be anywhere from a few months to 2 years or even longer. On average it takes about 1-2 years.

Because it's all based on how quickly and how much of the money hits the market etc.

Read more Milton Friedman. He talks about these things. He calls it a "long and variable lag".

I can't answer bullshite questions.

you dumb idiot. Yesterday I pointed out that inflation is down. Your response was “there is a lag.” I ask “great…be specific…how long is the lag?”

Now you’re saying asking about the lag is idiotic. You dumb frick.
