Sounds like the same globalist policies he ran against. Importing cheap foreign products to undercut domestic prices.

Don't be obtuse. This is a very shrewed and ingenious move on the global political stage. Argentina is a very wealthy nation in natural resources. The leader is cut from the same mold as DJT.

BS, don’t pay attention much do you?

The Green Deal idiots put pressures on fertilizers and seed crops. That caused the beginning of all this. US herds were being diminished during one of Biden’s naps.

Recovery takes time.

I know and have already commented on it. This is not something that is being fixed in a year or two and there isn't just one singular issue that caused this. Perfect storm of self inflicted wounds, war, and environmental issues coming together to bring us to this point.

Your correct. People don’t generally know that Florida is a high beef producer. Inventory is steady from last year but still 1951 low.

I'm not reading 16 pages of comments but Trump really went balls deep in a hornet nest today. What do I want? Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling. CRP land open to grazing. The PRIME Act. That's for starters.

What did the USDA announcement today offer me? Voluntary "Product of USA" labeling.

This administration is sort of on the right path, but groups like Cattlemen's Associations, NCBA, American Farm Bureau are keeping him distracted from solid fixes. Hell, the NCBA a month ago was demanding imported beef from Mexico. I don't believe anyone in the USDA anymore knows wtf they're doing, and haven't for years... probably since Dad retired in 2012.

So, the result to ease the pain? Argentina beef.

Another Democrat caused era of stupidity.

The Cattle Ranchers are just too stupid to understand that Trump is helping them. Hopefully they’ll figure it out soon.

Beggars can't be choosers. You source where you can to fill the demand. China did it with soybeans and it was a smart move of theirs. Or you don't and deal with it and that includes the higher costs we're seeing and will continue to see. If retailers have determined that consumers will absorb it and are still moving product then nothing changes. If demand drops enough that'll shift things. Those are your options. Something, from somewhere. Or nothing and we do what we've been doing. Trump has decided that Argentinian beef will help alleviate some of the market pressures we have with domestic production. I'm perfectly fine with that because this isn't something we can just fix. Cattle have to be raised and slaughtered and that takes time.

In part for sure. But they have their partners in government, academia and business that have been planning around this stuff. When I first joined here I told the story of a corporate conference call I was on about how the aforementioned groups were planning around what people would be eating in the future and how it would be distributed. That call was probably close to 20 years ago. I used to be a produce buyer and inspector for the largest Canadian retailer. We had half of the marketshare in the country. My team was on 3 continents and we fed 17 million people a week. It's a big organization. The CEO was an attendee at Bilderburg one year. These are powerful people making plans well in advance and it was about controlling your options. They'll tell you that they're doing it to secure the food supply and for environmental reasons. I don't trust people with the kind of power they want over you and I. Eat ze bugs is quite real, I promise you.

Someone please help me understand Trump here. If tariffs raise import costs so ranchers can compete, doesn’t that also push consumer prices up? How can he restrict cheaper supply and expect costs to fall? Is the goal to help producers or lower prices? Those seem like opposites. If you want to protect ranchers, tariffs make sense, but then everyone else pays more. How can you have two fundamentally opposed outcomes result from one policy?

Well this is a glaring example of how supply side economics keep things affordable.

Sarcasm? How exactly is that “supply-side economics”? Tariffs restrict supply and raise costs by design. Making imports more expensive doesn’t make things more affordable unless we’ve started redefining “supply-side” to mean “supply less for more.”

Plus. The communism spews down in South America is In Brazil now, along with Colombia changing & Venezuala being the ring leader.

So we cannot afford Argentina losing thru battle against it.

We share the same land mass & people seem to forget that.

Let the commies take over South America & Canada & you think that’s a good idea anyone?
