A lot of folks join the military who are already married.
Well, they wouldn't be doing that anymore. At least not enlisting. Officers can be married I suppose.

You really think the cost of E1-E4 dependents is in the billions? Probably close to half a million. Barely 100 million in the army if you speculate that half of junior enlisted are married, barely 200 if you say all of them are married.
I don't give a shite if it's $10. I don't want people who join because it benefits their family and I don't want PFCs getting married to a skankapatomous succubus for the extra money or because third the first girl who's given him a BJ worth a damn.

So it has nothing to do with money? You just want to take more rights away, got it.

Im ok with this is we start mandatory minimum military service for all draft age eligible adults in this country. Folks dont want to pony up the financials to those that volunteer... then everyone can share the fricking burden in that way

My unit was giving BAH to single E4s at one point. I was like "WTF?" what a waste. Also caused issues with thier personal finances and personal conduct when they lived off post. Broke, couldnt pay their rent, living above their means etc etc. They need to be in the B's and eating at the DFAC.

Lol, my military wouldn't have fought that war or WW2, or Korea or Vietnam, or Iraq, Panama Grenada, Iraq 2, or Iraq 3, Or Afghanistan, or Syria.

We shall see. It's hars to know what will happen, but I can see trump ramping up the airstrikes and using smaller SOF units to do it. Without large scale maneuvers there is little reason to have so many conventional military members there.

i could easily see a couple SBCT sent into northern iraq.

Nothing like a wasted rotation at Polk and or Irwin leading up to heading down range. They were really fun when they cut into the dwell between deployments.

One course of action discussed when Obama came into office was pulling most of the force out of Afghanistan and using air power and SOF to suppress/destroy whomever.
The Military refused to even develop a plan for that option and Obama wilted, of course.

Maybe the media is too stupid to detect a BCT, but I hadn't heard that, although you do hear about increased troop presence. Using a BCT crosses a certain threshold, in my opinion.

Pretty sure there was/is a BCT command with all its concomitant staff and toys up north.
ETA: I see McCarton beat me to the punch.
