Per ACLU:
quote:

In a long-awaited ruling in United States v. Hasbajrami, the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York last night held that warrantless queries — or searches — conducted under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act violated the Fourth Amendment. The ruling is the first of its kind, and it follows years of public revelations about how Section 702 has been used by the government to conduct warrantless surveillance of Americans, including protesters, members of Congress, and journalists.

Alito is going to retire before he has to rule on this one.

If the case had been U.S. v. Trump I guaranf*ckingtee you that the EDNY would have come down with exact opposite holding.

He is one of the biggest "law and order" justices of my lifetime.

He's gotten quite political due to personal attacks (like Thomas) and likely sees this as a partisan issue.

He's going to have to choose between his historical stances and being political.

Is this the part of fisa where they have one warrant and they can have unlimited scope and basically spy on anyone?

There is common ground with folks like the Squad on police state overreach. Embrace it, don't just write them off as terrorists.

I seem to recall if you get FISA'd, the machine can basically audit your internet history back to the beginning of time. But, yeah, I think you're referring to the skip/hop thing between people.

Every government bureaucrat would like to have general warrant like the ones the Kings of England had where any functionary could go any where and search anyone or anything with out so much as a "by your leave."
