There is a LOT missing from this story. I have spent a lot of time in tax court and fed court on tax cases. Judges don’t send people to prison for innocent mistakes on taxes. In fact, one of the elements of the crime is intent.

In both cases bank officials testified that he wouldn't have qualified if not for the misrepresentations.

So...nothing to do with Trump?

What is the status of Imran Awan's bank fraud case? He had more access than Manafort could dream of, yet we haven't heard about this criminal in a while.

Just wondering, since we're all focused on bank fraud.

The perception now is not does this implicate Trump directly, but can Mueller use this as leverage to get to Trump.

No,
the reality is that Cohen did implicate Trump today by saying in court, under oath, under penalty of perjury, that Donald Trump instructed him to make the payments in order to silence the women for the sole purpose of influencing the 2016 presidential election.

As an aside,

Cohen's lawyer says that Cohen is ready to testify that Trump knew about the Russians hacking the DNC and that he conspired with the Russians and members of his campaign to distribute the information from these stolen emails in order to influence the election.

Mueller will have others that will corroborate Cohen. Way too many people involved in the conspiracy.

Trump will be impeached and removed from office.

After Mueller reports, it won't matter what the democratic makeup of Congress is.

Trump is toast.

NDAs are not illegal. You have no clue what you are talking about.

Well, not nothing. But nothing he got convicted of. The counts involving the bank he got $16 million from and forwarded the CEO's name and list of Presidential appointments to Kushner seems to have hung. :-/

So...none of his convictions have anything to do with trump. Ouch.

I know. I was a little peeved at judge Ellis for seeming to bias the jury against Rick Gates. I know they could possibly try those counts again in D.C. but I kinda hope they go back to him for a do over.

You are arguing that what Michael Cohen did was not illegal on the day that he just plead guilty to two felonies for campaign finance violations related to the way those NDAs were structured and paid for?

Seriously?

You are a fricking idiot.

Then I guess we should arrest about 10 million people who got mortgages during the 2005-2008 boom where no doc loans were the trend.

eta: thanks for the answer

Yes. I’d argue that.

What is the statute and what are it’s elements? People plead to stuff every single day they aren’t guilty of. For any number of reasons. Again....you have zero legal experience and it is showing. You probably shouldn’t call anyone an idiot. Your just naive and ignorant. That’s ok. But being a prick while being naive and ignorant isn’t.
