If I remember correctly our state Constitution gives the Sheriff in each parish more power than the governor. Only one person can arrest a Sheriff in Louisiana. Sheriff of said parish can station his/her deputies at the parish line to stop and turn away unwanted "guest". We once had a sheriff here in Louisiana who ran for re election from the parish jail and won. Remember who he was? Only the parish coroner can arrest a sheriff.

therein lies the rub. these things are already starting to crack in court.

edwards is all fine with trump allowing the states to make their own decisions but when a parish wants to do the same, he smacks them down hard. frustrating

That’s very interesting.

Sheriffs aren’t going to listen to JBE? I know he has the support of the Sheriffs Association but that doesn’t mean they all have to agree with him.
