Did Assad do it?

With the Syrian rebels apparently losing the war against Assad and president Trump announcing he wants to withdraw US troops from Syria, Assad would have to be the dumbest person on planet earth to use chemical weapons.
Yes, Secretary Mattis said intelligence indicated to his satisfaction that chemical agent(s) were used but has anyone proved that Assad was responsible? A good argument could be made that the rebels did it to cause the US reaction we saw tonight. I am a big Trump supporter but I have my doubts about Assad being responsible for this chemical weapon attack. It just doesn't make sense.

Assad has been gassing people and killing tens of thousands mercilessly for decades with conventional bombs. We are letting him off the hook. He also gassed his people again this time.
