What does the UN, EU or NATO have to do with this?
Take a look at Texas v. White. The Court put to rest any 10th amendment claims that states have the right to leave the Union as they please. That case made voluntary secession with permission impractical without a constitutional amendment.
I would love to see those states walk but I doubt it will happen.

Incorrect. The State secedes but US citizenship is retained by the individual until renounced ( ie to run for government, business license, land ownership, etc). Think of an American expat living in Belize, same deal.

The point here is that just as membership in these political alliances are not perpetual, nor should the Union be seen as perpetual. Just government is instituted by consent of the governed and when governments violate the inalienable rights of the governed, citizens have a right to address those concerns through political secession.
The very existence of the United States rests upon such a foundational principle. Many of the “free and independent” states would never have voluntarily joined together to form a larger Union if they had known a condition of of joining was that the new Federal Government would become a supreme sovereign unto itself and that the new Union was a compact into eternity.
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
