Probably, but the schools have a holding action they can pull.

Dartmouth is in the Ivy League. They, along with the Patriot League, do not offer athletic scholarships. Which means those players technically are NOT compensated.

Most other D1 schools offer scholarships covering tuition and a number of other costs, which could be calculated out to show compensation well in excess of minimum wage.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out with regard to Title IX, IRS, 1099s etc.

Good question.

Are players considered W2 employees or are they considered independent contractors?

That could affect college athletics and some other professions such as wrestling where employees are held to W2 employee standards but called 1099 employees as a dodge.

The injection of liberal think is ultimately going to kill it and the consequences will end up being detrimental to the vast majority of athletes completing the transition to liberal utopia where the elites rule the classes.. they just don’t even see what they are doing as it runs completely contrary to overall fairness and equality within the college athletes spectrum

We will be disbanding our men’s college basketball team . They are all laid off now . If any of our other collegiate sports decide to sue as employees we will be shutting down those sports also
