In the New America no one is responsible for themselves or their actions.

How do you hide common sense? Common sense tells a person that getting hit in the head repeatedly and getting knocked out is not good for you.

Common sense doesn't tell you that playing football is going to lead to all the injuries which may have been caused by concussions - dementia, depression, suicide, numerous other brain injuries.
Specifically the fact that the probability of sustaining serious brain injury is so greatly increased after receiving a concussion. Yet for years players were just sent back on to the field. If the NFL knew or should have known about the possibility of these injuries and didn't tell their employees that is damn near criminal.

Yes, it does. Common since very much tells you that getting hit in the head repeatedly and getting knocked out repeatedly is bad for you.

depression, suicide
Many of these guys seem like they are depressed the party is over and they are out of the spotlight they have been in their entire life. Ask anyone who quits doing what they do best because they are physically unable and see if they are not depressed. If you ask anyone who isn't a football player why they are depressed it is because they are physically unable to do what they love and be in the spotlight. Ask a football player??? Depressed because of head injuries.

I'm not leaving out culpability totally for the NFL, but to pretend now that all these players were in the dark and forced to play against their will is ludicrous. Any of these players could have sought a second opinion from their own doctors at any point if they wanted. These players continued to play through injuries because they wanted the money and popularity that comes with playing pro football. And many of these same players, some who had short careers and are bankrupt, now want another payday.

I mean, it's like someone who sky dives for a living having a bad landing and then complaining that their employer didn't have a notice up about the potential for bad landings.
I'd be like, um..............you didn't know that?

I hope the lawsuit succeeds and the NFL gets screwed. Face it, football is the sport in the USA that has the greatest potential to go away. It is the least international sport. Basketball, Hockey, and Baseball are played in other countries. Football in Canada is even a little bit different. Baseball is played in Japan, South Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic and even in Italy. More people play baseball in Europe than Football.
The Clippers get a bid of 2 billion because basketball is the second most popular sport in the world.
Those of you who are compiling about the lawsuit I'm willing to bet never played football at a level above high school or even middle school.
Football is a dangerous sport and the NFL for decades has encouraged players to play hurt with pain killers and to play right too soon after suffering concussions. It may be too little too late for the NFL to save itself. More and more parents are not allowing their kids to play tackle football. It's not because they are pussies or liberals it's because they don't want their children playing sports where they are more likely to get brain damage making routine plays.

More and more parents are caring. They figure that if their kid has the athletic ability to play football there may be better options for their kids than playing a sport that is more likely to have them end up brain damaged or limping or paralyzed.
I like football but hey I don't need it to boost my self-esteem.

It'd be more like the skydiving company finding out that skydiving shortly after eating could lead to early onset dementia and hiding that fact from its employees.

If he's backed out... Then that means someone has told him to ... Or else.
Seems reasonable that he must be broke for some reason or another to pull this shite.
I guess he won't be endorsing isotoner gloves anymore for his linemen protecting him so well... Lol.
LACES OUT, DAN!!!!!!!
Maybe he pulled out of the case figuring a trial might be like a Super Bowl.

So because you don't like something and its not popular internationally you hope they get screwed? That's quite a mindset you have there.
I don't like ice skating, but that doesn't mean I hope they get sued to high heaven and "screwed" because I have other sports I can enjoy. Get over yourself.

I don't think this is a leftist issue.
Me either....I think at the end of the day it will be a parenting issue. It is hard to argue with the fact that grown men are perfectly free to decide to sacrifice their health for monetary gain and fame.
I think the decline of the game of football will happen from the bottom up not the top down. As parents learn more about the dangers of repeated head trauma (even non-concussive head trauma) fewer kids will play football at the junior high and high school levels. Ultimately this will impact the quality of the players available at the higher levels.
It is too early to forecast the complete demise of the game, but it will change dramatically as a result of current and ongoing research into traumatic brain injury.

Possibly, but the allure of a college scholarship is a strong motivator, and many kids that play football come from poor economic backgrounds with little parental supervision to begin with.
