The executive is in charge of immigration and national security. Unless the judiciary steps in and calls bullshite, Obama's executive order creating DACA was the law of the land.

So then Trump saying DACA is null and void means they're illegal residents does it not?

If not for the court executing a stay, yes, Trump would've turned a few hundred thousand legal residents to illegal status with the stroke of his pen. Fortunately, the stay means that DACA is essentially still law.

Forget deportation

Build a bonfire and start incineration.

We would not receive any compassion if we were undocumented in their countries.

They were never legal.

No, what this means is that one president can issue executive orders on immigration, but another can not. Because...reasons.

So what made Obama's EO legal, but Trump's invalidation of the EO illegal?

You can’t take 800,000 people and call them all Dreamers.

That’s ludicrous.

The one’s that are producers can stay.

The one’s that are not can be on the first thing smoking back to Mexico.

The entire DACA thing was just a sympathy ploy, anyway. It was a tactical move to identify the most sympathetic of illegals and try to get them amnesty and then move on to the next group.

Yeah, let’s deport people who own private businesses, pay their taxes, and are responsible for actual citizen’s paychecks. Let’s not think this through at all and throw out people who are actually making this country a productive and wonderful place.
My issue is that these individuals have gotten married, had kids, started businesses, created situations where others are dependent upon them all knowing full well that they were in the country illegally and risked losing EVERYTHING. I know people who fall into this category and several are wonderful people that one wouldn't distinguish from anyone else in the PTA. Unfortunately, they've had their lifetime to remedy the situation and chose to just ignore it.

The politicians that allegedly support their right to citizenship have also had ample time to do something about their plight and chose to use them as political fodder, instead. We've been down this damned road before and were guilted into accepting the last wave. The border needs to be secured and immigration policy reformed for the long haul before this is entertained again.

Dear uninformed fricktard:

DACA wasn’t legislated.

Very common misconception that comes over and over again in DACA discussions. There is virtually no process for them to get a legal status. You will often hear the saying "they should get in line". Problem is there is no line that they can get into.

Again you are just ignorant if you think so. For most of them there is no process to get themselves legalized.

Then the legislators can create a line. That would certainly be more reasonable than another round of amnesty.
