But, there must be an admission this was a business decision and it is only the timing they are choosing makes this political.

But Nexstar is currently seeking FCC approval for a big acquisition. Carr's thumb on the scale is troubling. Sure, the Biden administrations efforts to de-platform conservative voices were a lot worse but Carr's actions were inappropriate.

Except there are rules you have to follow when you have a license to broadcast on limited public airwaves. He can go say whatever he wants on his own podcast... like conservatives have done.

quote:

There is a fundamental limit on the public airwaves (the electromagnetic spectrum used for radio and television broadcasting) managed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This stems from the finite nature of the spectrum, which can only support a limited number of stations or channels without causing interference. The FCC allocates portions of this spectrum to broadcasters based on community needs and technical feasibility, as the resource is physically scarce by design.

This scarcity underpins the FCC's regulatory authority over broadcasting, distinguishing it from unregulated media like print or the internet, where entry barriers are lower. For instance, court rulings like Red Lion Broadcasting Co. v. FCC (1969) upheld this by noting that the limited spectrum makes an "unabridgeable First Amendment right to broadcast" impractical, justifying government oversight to ensure diverse public access.

“But let me tell you, if the government gets in the business of saying, ‘We don’t like what you the media have said, we’re going to ban you from the airwaves if you don’t say what we like,’ that will end up bad for conservatives,”

Is this why so many conservatives are on YouTube and rumble and not major networks?
