Sonic Electronix out of Louisville, Kentucky has always treated me well.

Long’s Electronics — a regional chain based out of Birmingham — was the go-to destination for audiophiles in the 1970s and 1980s.
Famed Birmingham sports broadcaster Herb Winches was — pardon the pun — a longstanding spokesman for the company.

Long’s never established a large mail-order or online presence and thus depended upon brick and mortar retail sales. That may be a contributing factor to why it went defunct.
Long’s Electronics
…At it's peak Long's had $100 million in sales and 235 employees with seven stores in the Birmingham area and other stores scattered throughout the country in Huntsville; Mobile; Tuscaloosa; Little Rock, Arkansas; San Fernando, California; Lakeland, Florida; Louisville, Kentucky; and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

A definitive growth period in life was swapping the Sears Wish Book for the Crutchfield catalog.

My sons and I are audiophiles and have been installing various car audio kits, speakers and upgrades, most of which have been purchased thru Crutchfield. The customer service has been outstanding….when I call for shipping information or technical support, it’s always a knowledgeable American male. We have had to return a couple of failed modules, and the ease of service, support, and communication has been unbelievable…cudos to that company for keeping domestic support personnel. I wonder if these massive customer facing corporations know that most people would be willing to pay a little extra for that level of support and ease of communication…..it’s ridiculous dealing with international support organizations who are simply reading a script.
Went to college with the founders son. He was a sigma nu. Good dude.

I didn't even have to goggle it to know the answer.

Did she get angry at being replaced by a younger model?
