In recognition of the current thread demonstrating the unequivocal dumbassery of SloMo on the first page, here is SloMo demonstrating he has no clue what “Gain of Function” research means.
Now we can argue over whether COVID-1984 was maliciously leaked from a lab or whether it was an “accidental” leak— though we very likely will never know the true answer to that query since any inquiry into the matter must be vetted by China’s state security apparatus. Yet if COVID-1984 originated from GOF research — it was “leaked” from a lab.

in fact if "man-made" is true, "lab leak" becomes the primary logical explanation of its distribution.

There were 2 competing hypotheses running.
One was an accidental leak summarized as "lab leak" and one was a biological weapon intentionally released, summarized as "man made". Many posters on this board would conflate the 2 and it was a mess to attempt any discussion.
Me trying to ensure everyone was talking about the same thing (by using the correct term uniformly) isn't the gotcha you think it is.
But I understand why you think you found a "gotcha".

Again, as addressed in the other thread, I always try to ensure that these terms of art with very malleable meanings have specified operative definitions for conversations. If you are using terms that can mean more than one thing, you can't have an adequate discussion using those terms.
Again, I'm not shocked that you can't intellectually comprehend this.
