Have you seen this? An existing judge with No experience in The Court of Appeals gets over 50% of his campaign funding from Personal Injury Attorneys!

And LABI, "The Association" (Supposedly) for Business and Industry backing the same candidate so heavily funded by Personal injury attorneys and The AFl-CIO (unions)!

So let me get this straight, all the attorneys on this Donor list for this judge, sue all of these Baton Rouge Businesses (Workers Comp claims). A large majority of these businesses make up the organization LABI? So LABI is "Louisiana Business and Industry" and now endorsing this judge that has over 50% of funding coming from Personal injury attorneys! And then LABI tries to tout Tort Reform........

Look how long this list is of PI attorneys donating. It will get longer because there is no more campaign finance reports due until after the election. Open Link and scroll down to see the attorneys listed Pretty Strong

Judges aren't for sale.

But, they can be rented...

Mr. Landreaneau? Is that you?

Considering that disparate groups all seem to be supporting the same candidate, maybe that candidate is actually both qualified and unbiased?

Of course, there's also the fact that he has been a judge (albeit on BR City Court).

Wait? you're telling me that LABI is as bad as PI attorneys are made out to be on this board? Color me shocked!

With LABI's endorsement, that's probably your least bad choice for that seat, to be honest with you.

Has LTLA endorsed a candidate in that race?

Personal injury attorneys buy judges in every election. And of all the times it happens, this is the last judge I'd be upset about getting elected as a defense attorney. He is a nice guy, supported by both sides, and liked by both sides. The list of attorneys supporting him is a who's who of Baton Rouge attorneys and it comes from both sides.

There are a ton of judge races you can look into finances for. Hester's is probably well down the list of importance.

Hester is a former district attorney if I’m thinking right - not exactly like he was working for Gordon.

yeah he was in my section. he was a DA and made it to serious felonys iirc. ran for city court, lost, and then ran and won

i was shocked he was already trying to go to appeals but there doesn't seem to be much competition. his dad was a judge, too, iirc

Judgeships are a birthright in East Baton Rouge Parish.
