History is a tough one for you, I get it.
You can find it on the internet - it is a clear historical fact that the RCC and clergy translated the Bible into English during the days of Anglo-Saxon England.
You are entitled to your own opinion, however, you are not entitled to your own facts.

Everyone listens when the Pope speaks.
I've got bad news for you outside of your little echo chamber, regarding everyone "listening when he speaks," and I'm gonna hold your hand when I tell you this: They really don't.
quote:I'm not "arguing" against a Catholic, I'm educating him, because so many Catholics, the majority of laymen actually, are pitifully uncultivated in their knowledge of Apostolic church history — pitifully.
The fact non-Catholics argue so fiercely against the religion and the Pope is because deep down inside they know...
Orthodoxy doesn't "know" anything when it comes to your imagined superiority: Orthodoxy is the one, true Apostolic church, period. The Orthodox Church looks at Papal primacy as nonsense, and we stood on that business 1000 years ago when you were excommunicated.
Educate yourself and you'll be much further ahead than many of your brethren.

You do realize that Protestants also practice communion, right? What a self righteous bunch you Catholics are.
Is your Communion belief the same as the Catholic belief about The Eucharist? Does your church consider communion to be the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the Cross? When you eat the communion bread, does your church consider it to be literally eating the flesh of the Sacrificed Lamb of God?
No. Of course not. That's why your "communion" is not the same as what we believe about The Eucharist.
We aren't self righteous, we are sinners. But with regard to The Eucharist, we believe that we are following God's orders.
Just as The Passover is in the present time at every Seder Meal, we believe that Christ's Sacrifice on the Cross is in the present time for us as we eat the flesh of the Sacrificed Lamb of God at every Mass.
I know you have Communion, but, it's different from my Communion.

Yes. You are not special.

So he didn’t die by catholic hands for translating the Bible and Catholics didn’t hide the Bible from the clergy for centuries. Interesting. I tell ya, Catholics would rather face the flame than the harsh truth.

How could Catholics hide the Bible from clergy or anybody else when during Mass, which is celebrated every day and twice on Sunday, passages from the Bible have been read aloud to the congregation for 2,000 years?
On Sunday Mass, an Old Testament passage is read aloud, then a letter from St. Paul, and then a passage from one of the Books of the Gospel.
Then the Priest gives a sermon on how all of these Bible passages relate to our lives today.
Yes, of course, centuries ago, Catholics and Protestants killed each other in the name of Religion. Atheist governments have killed and do kill Christians today. Henry the 8th was notorious for persecuting Catholics, but, he also had some Protestants executed when they professed theological beliefs different from Henry's Church of England.

Sigh. Sure they did it for hundreds of years…did Protestants do that?

While orthodox aren’t labeled as Protestants, it is in some ways similar to the Protestants leaving the church.
Sine you brought it up, the Catholics were the first Protestants.

St Peter was the first pope of the Catholic Church. The orthodox split from the Catholic Church well after the formation of the Catholic Church.
St. Peter was also the first Patriarch of the Church in Antioch, so where does that leave us?

The Catholic Church has it and the rest do not have it, or have modified and watered it down to make it palatable to the average person who wants to have their cake and eat it too. Watered down Truth is "Not Truth."
Seriously, a Catholic claiming that Orthodoxy was "modified and watered it down to make it palatable to the average person"?
You mean kinda like Vatican II?

Again, nonsense from a know-nothing Catholic in your echo chamber. Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, and Jerusalem do not "fall" under the Vatican in any shape, form or fashion, and certainly no pope with imagined supremecy and an affinity for lgbtq perversions and universalism.
We settled that misunderstanding on Rome's part one thousand years ago. The Orthodox church stands alone and on its own from the day of Pentecost.
The arrogance is stunning sometimes.

In regards to your criticism of St. Peter, Jesus said "Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means 'rock'), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it. And I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven." - Matthew 16:18-19.
OK, let's talk about that - St. Peter also founded the Church at Antioch, so where does that leave us now?

It always amazes me when they say that shite about y'all.

So Catholics use actual blood?

Ask one of them.
It's bad form to answer a question with a question.
So about that grape juice...

Sigh. So you’re one to think it’s a mortal sin to take communion in a Catholic Church?
Engaging with y’all is a lost cause apparently. Catholics never acknowledge their past. Not once.

No idea wtf you're talking about.

Who is y'all?
What does "acknowledgement of their past" by Roman Catholics have to do with me?

Seems like many Protestants live to attack Catholics - not really sure why.

To Justify their denomination they have to put down the original christian faith
