Like increasing the deficit to fund a war in Iran?

Our federally elected politicians are ultimately going to be the reason the US collapses economically and financially. Prove me wrong!
It’s the voters fault. Everyone wants spending cuts until those cuts affect them personally or the industry they work in. Very few are willing to sacrifice their comforts and well being for the good of the nation and Congress will never risk their jobs to do the right thing.

When that 24% cut in social security payouts hits in 2032, maybe it'll get people's attention.

Let's say Trump vetoes this like some people want. How do you see it playing out?
There are 4 conclusions:
1. Trump eventually caves after every congressman runs to the media telling everyone how babies and grandmothers will die. Nothing changes but Republicans take a black eye before elections.
2. Congress gets together to override his veto by giving the democrats more funding. Bad for everyone.
3. The government shuts down and it drags out through the election. Is it more likely that voters see Trump as the one holding the government hostage or as the hero defending the country from economic collapse? Odds are on the former.
4. Congress sees the error of its ways and reduces spending lol.
You don't have to like it, but the fantasy of #4 isn't happening. Every other result is worse if you understand the societal and cultural decline that accompanies the democrat agenda.
