“We had the problem that President Obama had twice publicly basically said, ‘There's no there, there’ in an interview with-- on Fox, an interview on 60 Minutes I think, both times he said that,” Comey said.

“It really did surprise me. He's a very smart man and a lawyer. And so it surprised me. He shouldn't have done it. It was inappropriate,” Comey said.

When asked by Stephanopoulos if Obama was trying to “color the case” against Clinton, Comey said “I don’t know. I don’t think so.”

“He didn't have any insight into the case, at least as far as I know, more than anybody readin' the newspaper did, which was zero 'cause there were no leaks,” Comey said. “I think he felt a pressure in the political environment because he wanted Hillary Clinton to be elected, to give her a shot in the arm.”

Oh, he felt a pressure, did he? I guess that's fine then. Funny how Comey isn't willing to make the same excuses for Trump.

So...Obama was indirectly telling him that he hoped the email investigation would just go away?

Pretty sure some have claimed that such an intimation rises to the level of obstruction of justice.

Good lord, the double standards and the hypocrisy are just at the most ridiculous levels.

It's comical.

You mean like the FBI agents who tipped off the local media about the meeting between Lynch and Clinton? Nope no leaks on his watch!

Excellent point.

Obama was talking to Comey through the media. Just like football coaches talk to their teams through the media.

Sidebar: Was the portion quoted in the OP edited out of last night's ABC airing? I don't remember seeing it, but it's in the transcript and ABC's own article.

So let’s see:

You’ve got this weak, ineffectual guy heading up the FBI under pressure from Obama/Lynch to exonerate Hillary (in all likelihood, to keep her from spilling the beans on THEM if she’s indicted).

THEN this same weak, ineffectual guy goes home and gets an earful every night about the importance of having a female president from his ball-and-chain.

Yeah, nothing about any of this stinks to high heaven at all.

Of course Obama was doing that. It's not obstruction though. Obama did a lot of illegal and or shady shite as President, but either something is obstruction , or it isn't, regardless of who is in office. Unless you are a liberal, in which case the line shifts.

And Comey listened.

The common man lives by different laws, that must change.
