The argument really isn’t hard if you genuinely believe a life is indeed a life. Once you’ve had a pregnancy and kids it really clarifies any grey area you may think exists.

I always come back to this argument because to me it clarifies it so well:

Say a woman is diagnosed with cancer while she is pregnant & needs chemo.

Does she get to choose to have cancer treatment or does the government?

Is she considered a real person more or less than the pregnancy?

So do I, which is why I'm challenging this inane and shallow argument.

Oooh. Nice riposte. Devastating.

It is wrong to take a life. It's not a preference or opinion. It's not a religious belief. It's wrong and fundamental to humanity. The exceptions we make are for cause based on attacking someone else's life. That's why only the idealogues are upset that Israel retaliated against the Palestinians. Everyone pushing restrictions on abortion has acknowledged the sensitive issue and made specific exceptions for the mother's life or rape or incest.

Weird that this fundamental argument of abortionists didn't appease them. Something they've been talking about since I was a kid. It's almost like it's a rhetorical talking point and not a real concern for the welfare of he mother. These are the people I'm supposed to pretend are in good faith and find common cause with? Sure.

When isn't it? Because now the law in Ohio is that it can be done until birth, regardless of the reason.

That is a really difficult decision but I would be willing to bet most people with genuine Christian convictions would sacrifice themselves for their children.

If any of my kids needed an organ from me to live or a high risk surgery for me that might kill me, I would do it no questions asked. I pray that never happens to me or anyone else.

I bet most people even non religious would sacrifice themselves for their kids without much hesitation actually. Why is it so much of a stretch to imagine sacrificing yourself for an unborn child? My guess would be because you don’t see it as a real person.

You can't think of any instance where it's not wrong to take a life?

Your preference for unborn baby murder will be between you and your creator.

None of the faith questions really matters. The question is does the government have the right to force someone to go through a medical procedure or does the person have the right?

If your wife and you already had a few kids, found out she was pregnant but then found out she needed chemo would you be ok with the government forcing her to have the pregnancy?

What if she didn't want to sacrifice her life? Would you be ok with the government giving her zero choice on the matter?

Health of the mother is like 1% of abortions and every law passed had addressed this issue. You want to keep the conversation here because you have no moral ground to stand on if that is taken away. This isn't about a medical procedure. It's the taking of human life, mostly for convenience.

Some people let their morality, not their wallet, lead their voting habits.

Not saying it's wrong, or bad, but it's their right as an American!

Except the Ohio one that was voted down.

So people want less government. And you have a problem with it.

Understood.
