On that we can absolutely agree.

It is, isn't it? It's almost as if the morals of the country changed over time. And the morality of the time dictated that the government abolish the institution of slavery.

Now imagine if it'd never enabled it in the first place.
Crazy...

Such a blissful thought I agree. However, let's get back to my question. Since we don't live in a perfect world, and since slavery has existed since the dawn of mankind, are you okay with the government having stepped in to abolish the institution?

You seem to be under the impression that I'm making the point that we don't need government. That was never my point, so stop pretending it was.
I'm fully aware that people are stupid and have an innate need to be lorded over. That doesn't change anything I've said.

I never was under that impression at all. Only a total nitwit would believe such a thing. However, you still haven't answered my question. Should the government have stepped in to abolish slavery or not?

Yes you were. You can pivot now, but that's a result of me blowing up your point.

Dude...it's an easy question to answer. Yes or no. Should the government have stepped in to abolish slavery?

Can someone explain to me how the GOP has been "wrecked" by this issue? Let's never achieve any policy goals because then we will suffer a backlash, oh no.

Sure, and I refuse to participate. You're arguing against a point that I didn't make. Find someone else to help you push whatever it is that you think you have here.

You said:

You're not a proponent of limited government. You're a proponent of a government that enforces your views.
I found this to be an oxymoron considering the very belief in limited government is a view that is enforced on those who don't hold to that idea. I then decided to test your statement by asking a question of my own. Your non-answer told me everything I needed to know about you.

False premise.

If it told you anything more than I don't answer stupid questions, you've failed.

gen-xer here. i can't vote for anyone that condones the murder/sacrifice of chidren.
if the repubican party decided to become pro-choice, i wouldn't vote for any of them either. better to watch the country burn itself to the ground than to enable the harming of children.
anyone voting for a pro-choice candidate may as well be waving the flag of moloch. some people don't agree with abortion, but they vote for pro-choice candidates because of money, feelings or other stupid reasons. it's still condoning the murder of children.
i'm not bringing that before the Almighty and trying to explain that i just vote with my wallet. trying to make an argument out of child sacrifice is disgusting.

Luke 17
1AND he said to his disciples: It is impossible that scandals should not come: but woe to him through whom they come.
2It were better for him, that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should scandalize one of these little ones.
quote:
Luke 12
15And he said to them: Take heed and beware of all covetousness; for a man's life doth not consist in the abundance of things which he possesseth.
16And he spoke a similitude to them, saying: The land of a certain rich man brought forth plenty of fruits.
17And he thought within himself, saying: What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
18And he said: This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and will build greater; and into them will I gather all things that are grown to me, and my goods.
19And I will say to my soul: Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years take thy rest; eat, drink, make good cheer.
20But God said to him: Thou fool, this night do they require thy soul of thee: and whose shall those things be which thou hast provided?
21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.

I’d say a society that treats killing it’s own babies flippantly is already in serious decline.
