You mom and I agree on what Christians are supposed to do. Sounds like we disagree on whether or not govts are supposed to redistribute wealth based on theological suppositions. I am a strong advocate for the separation of church and state. It's better for the state and it's better for the church.

Yeah, I'd guess that you and her probably agree on a lot about values and right and wrong but disagree on everything the government could be doing differently.

Which is actually good and the way it probably should be.

I get what you're saying but her point is that government is already redistributing money, so to speak, since that what it does--that it's already governing -- and she simply thinks a more "Christian" approach to that would be things like putting universal health care before policies simply lobbied and designed to profit the wealthiest.

Again, it's her opinion and I'm not trying to argue it as much as just emphasize that there's not just a single "Christian" way to look at the political sphere.
