A man accused of planning a mass shooting of "Black people" at Jazz Fest in New Orleans was released from prison this summer after terrorizing charges were dropped.

Christopher Gillum, 45, a former North Carolina law enforcement officer, was released June 25 from a New Orleans jail after a grand jury declined to indict him on a terrorizing charge...

On Aug. 13 Murrill said there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute Gillum.

"A grand Jury declined charges based on the facts showing that this individual was arrested in Florida, was from another state, and never made it to Louisiana," Murrill said in a post on X. "The individual made vague statements to family members, but those statements did not directly state an intent to carry out any crimes in Louisiana.

"Law enforcement concluded it was highly possible that the individual might be targeting Jazz Fest, which was happening at that time. Though the grand jury declined charges based on these facts.
